Natus Vincere have won the Counter Pit League Season 2 Finals after defeating Astralis 2-1 in the grand final (16-9 on de_train, 12-16 on de_inferno and 16-6 on de_mirage).
The series began on Train, where Na`Vi opened up the game in convincing fashion by picking up the opening five rounds. Astralis then bagged two rounds in a row, but Na`Vi quickly hit back to reset the economy of the Danes.
Things were starting to look grim for Astralis, who were now down 2-7, but Nicolai "device" Reedtz took matters into his own hands and single-handedly put his team back in the game with a series of crucial AWP shots. Despite struggling to string rounds together, Astralis still managed to scrape six rounds before the end of the half.
Na`Vi did not let their opponents rally back early in the second half and extended their lead to 13-6 by winning the first four rounds on the CT side. Astralis then found a lifeline as they took the next three rounds on the back of great individual actions from device and Finn "karrigan" Andersen, but Na`Vi regained control of the proceedings and sealed a 16-9 success.
Na`Vi won the first map of the series
Next up was Inferno, and here it was Astralis' time to shine as they got out to a 6-0 lead after a fantastic start on the Terrorist side. A triple kill from Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács then powered Na`Vi to get their first round on the board, but they were unable to follow it up, which left their economy in a poor state. Astralis refused to take their foot off the gas and continued to pile pressure on their opponents, closing out the half with a stunning 12-3 lead.
In the second half, Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev opened the game up with four kills during a B push to make sure that his team remained in the race. Every round edged out by Astralis was quickly countered by a round won by Na`Vi, forcing the Danes to frequently go on eco. The CIS-based team managed to reduce the deficit to 12-14, but then Andreas "Xyp9x" Højsleth and René "cajunb" Borg put Astralis on map point in a great eco round before Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen came huge in mid to secure a 16th round.
Astralis still fought back, but it was not enough in the end
It all came down to Mirage, which turned out to be the a lopsided map as Na`Vi were pretty much in control from the get-go. A flying start from the CIS side saw them win eight of the opening nine rounds, forcing Astralis to call a tactical pause in an attempt to adjust their defense. It took a while for the Danes to do that, however, as Na`Vi held onto their momentum, but karrigan's men picked themselves up in the final stages of the half and reduced the deficit to 4-11.
More misery was about to head Astralis' way, however, as Na`Vi took the first four rounds on the CT side. A 1vs2 clutch from karrigan still gave Astralis a last flicker of hope, but Na`Vi held strong and picked up their 16th round.
